Dosage
Starting dose is 200 mg daily as 100 mg twice daily, increasing to 300 mg daily after three days, with a maximum of 450 mg daily in divided doses of 150 mg each.
Side Effects
Most common adverse reactions (5% or more) include agitation, dry mouth, constipation, headache/migraine, nausea/vomiting, dizziness, and excessive sweating.
Interactions
Bupropion inhibits CYP2D6, affecting antidepressants, antipsychotics, and beta-blockers. Concurrent MAOI use is contraindicated.
Warnings
Suicidal thoughts and behaviors: increased risk in children, adolescents, and young adults requiring close monitoring. Seizure risk, hypertension, mania activation, psychosis, angle-closure glaucoma, and hypersensitivity reactions. Contraindicated in seizure disorders, eating disorders, alcohol/benzodiazepine withdrawal, and concurrent MAOI use.
