Combination tablet containing butalbital 50 mg, acetaminophen 325 mg, and caffeine 40 mg, indicated for the relief of tension headache symptoms.

Uses

Indicated for relief of tension headache symptoms. Extended use is not recommended due to butalbital's habit-forming potential.

Dosage

One or 2 tablets every 4 hours as needed. Total daily dosage should not exceed 6 tablets. Extended use not recommended due to dependence risk.

Side Effects

Most frequent: drowsiness, lightheadedness, dizziness, sedation, nausea, vomiting. Infrequent: confusion, seizure, dry mouth, constipation, tachycardia.

Interactions

MAO inhibitors may enhance butalbital's CNS effects. Alcohol and CNS depressants cause increased depression when combined with this product.

Warnings

Acetaminophen has caused acute liver failure, sometimes requiring transplant and death, most cases involving doses exceeding 4000 mg daily. Risk of serious skin reactions including Stevens-Johnson Syndrome. Butalbital is habit-forming. Contraindicated in hypersensitivity and porphyria.
