Cefadroxil is a semisynthetic cephalosporin antibiotic for oral use. Indicated for treatment of urinary tract infections, skin and skin structure infections, pharyngitis, and tonsillitis caused by susceptible bacteria.

Treatment of urinary tract infections, skin and skin structure infections, pharyngitis, and tonsillitis caused by susceptible bacteria strains.
Dosage
Adults: 1-2g daily for urinary tract infections; 1g daily for skin infections; 1g daily for 10 days for pharyngitis. Children: 30 mg/kg/day in divided doses.
Side Effects
GI upset, allergic reactions (rash, urticaria, angioedema), pseudomembranous colitis, anaphylaxis, hepatic dysfunction. Rarely agranulocytosis and Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
Interactions
Positive direct Coombs' tests reported during treatment. May interfere with hematologic studies and transfusion cross-matching.
Warnings
Cross-sensitivity with beta-lactam antibiotics possible in penicillin-allergic patients. Risk of C. difficile-associated diarrhea. Serious hypersensitivity reactions may require epinephrine and emergency measures. Contraindicated in patients with known allergy to cephalosporin group antibiotics.
Pregnancy
Category B. Animal studies up to 11 times human dose showed no fetal harm. Use only if clearly needed in pregnant women.
Storage
Store at 20-25 degrees C (68-77 degrees F). Excursions permitted to 15-30 degrees C (59-86 degrees F).
