Chlorhexidine gluconate 4% is an antiseptic solution for healthcare personnel handwash that helps reduce bacteria that can potentially cause disease, and for skin wound and general skin cleansing.

Uses

Healthcare personnel handwash to help reduce bacteria that potentially can cause disease. Also for skin wound and general skin cleansing.

Dosage

For handwash: dispense approximately 5 mL, wash vigorously for 15 seconds, rinse and dry. For skin wounds: rinse area, apply minimum product needed, wash gently, rinse thoroughly. Use with care in premature infants under 2 months.

Warnings

Keep out of eyes, ears, and mouth. May cause serious and permanent eye injury if permitted to enter and remain in the eye. May cause deafness when instilled in the middle ear through perforated eardrums. Do not use if allergic to chlorhexidine gluconate. Avoid contact with meninges or genital area. Stop use and ask a doctor if irritation, sensitization, or allergic reaction occurs.

Storage

Store at 20-25 degrees C (68-77 degrees F). Avoid excessive heat above 40 degrees C (104 degrees F).
