Combination OTC medication containing chlorpheniramine maleate (antihistamine) and dextromethorphan HBr (cough suppressant) for temporary relief of cough and cold symptoms.
Uses
Temporarily relieves cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation as may occur with a cold. Temporarily relieves runny nose and sneezing due to the common cold.
Dosage
Adults and children 12 years and over: 1 tablet every 6 hours, not more than 4 tablets in 24 hours. Children under 12 years: do not use.
Side Effects
Excitability may occur, especially in children. Marked drowsiness may occur. Alcohol, sedatives, and tranquilizers may increase drowsiness.
Interactions
Do not use with MAOIs. Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if taking sedatives or tranquilizers.
Warnings
Do not use with MAOIs or within 2 weeks of stopping them. Ask a doctor before use with prostate enlargement, excessive mucus, glaucoma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, or persistent cough. Stop use if cough persists more than 1 week, recurs, or is accompanied by fever, rash, or persistent headache.
Pregnancy
Ask a health professional before use if pregnant or breast-feeding.
Storage
Store at 25 degrees C (77 degrees F). Excursions permitted between 15-30 degrees C (59-86 degrees F).
