Dosage

For 500 mg tablets, typical dosing is one tablet three or four times daily, increasing to one and one-half tablets if needed. Dosage should be reduced as improvement occurs.

Side Effects

Generally well-tolerated. Possible side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, and lightheadedness. Rarely: gastrointestinal bleeding, allergic rashes, and urine discoloration from metabolites.

Warnings

Serious hepatocellular toxicity reported rarely. Patients should report fever, rash, jaundice, or abnormal liver enzymes. Avoid concomitant alcohol or CNS depressants. Safety in pregnancy not established. Contraindicated in patients with known intolerance to the drug.

Storage

Store at 20-25 degrees C.
