Desoximetasone ointment USP, 0.05% contains 0.5 mg of desoximetasone USP per gram in a base of mineral oil and white petrolatum.

Desoximetasone ointment USP, 0.05% contains 0.5 mg of desoximetasone USP per gram in a base of mineral oil and white petrolatum.

Uses

Indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.

Dosage

Apply a thin film to the affected skin areas twice daily. Rub in gently.

Side Effects

Local adverse reactions reported infrequently include burning, itching, irritation, dryness, folliculitis, acneiform eruptions, and skin atrophy. In controlled trials, incidence was low (0.2%) with mild burning at application site.

Warnings

Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any preparation components. Keep out of reach of children.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy Category C. Desoximetasone showed teratogenic effects in animal studies. Should be used during pregnancy only if potential benefit justifies fetal risk.

Storage

Store at 25 degrees C (77 degrees F); excursions permitted to 15 to 30 degrees C (59 to 86 degrees F).
