Interactions
Monitor blood glucose and electrolytes with concomitant drugs affecting glycemic control. Avoid concurrent use with agents causing hyponatremia.
Warnings
Risk of hyperglycemia and hyperosmolar state, phlebitis from hypertonic solution, hyponatremia, electrolyte imbalance, aluminum toxicity in renal impairment, and hypersensitivity reactions. Contraindicated in intracranial/intraspinal hemorrhage, severe dehydration, alcohol withdrawal, and dextrose hypersensitivity.
