Uses

Approved for major depressive disorder in adults, generalized anxiety disorder in adults and pediatric patients 7+, diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia in adults and pediatric patients 13+, and chronic musculoskeletal pain in adults.

Dosage

Take once daily with or without food; swallow whole without crushing. Starting doses range from 30-60 mg/day depending on indication, with target doses typically 60 mg/day and maximum doses up to 120 mg/day.

Side Effects

Most common: nausea (23%), dry mouth (13%), somnolence (10%), constipation (9%), decreased appetite (7%), and hyperhidrosis (6%).

Interactions

Contraindicated with MAOIs intended to treat psychiatric disorders due to increased risk of serotonin syndrome.
