Fluocinolone Acetonide Cream USP is a topical corticosteroid available in 0.01% and 0.025% formulations in a water-washable aqueous base.

Uses

Indicated for relief of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.

Dosage

Generally applied to affected area as thin film two to four times daily depending on severity. Occlusive dressing may be used for psoriasis or resistant conditions.

Side Effects

Local adverse reactions reported infrequently, potentially more frequent with occlusive dressings, including: burning, hypertrichosis, maceration of the skin, itching, acneiform eruptions, secondary infection, irritation, hypopigmentation, skin atrophy, dryness, perioral dermatitis, striae, folliculitis, allergic contact dermatitis, miliaria.

Warnings

Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity history to any preparation components.

Pregnancy

Topical corticosteroids should be used during pregnancy only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to fetus. Should not be used extensively on pregnant patients, in large amounts, or for prolonged periods.

Storage

Store at 15C to 25C (59F to 77F). Avoid freezing and heat above 40C (104F).
