Ipratropium bromide and albuterol sulfate is a combination inhalation solution containing an anticholinergic bronchodilator and a beta-2 adrenergic bronchodilator for the treatment of bronchospasm associated with COPD.

Ipratropium bromide and albuterol sulfate is a combination inhalation solution containing an anticholinergic bronchodilator and a beta-2 adrenergic bronchodilator for the treatment of bronchospasm associated with COPD.

Uses

Indicated for treatment of bronchospasm associated with COPD in patients requiring more than one bronchodilator.

Dosage

One 3 mL vial administered 4 times daily via nebulization, with up to 2 additional doses allowed daily if needed. Administered via jet nebulizer with mouthpiece or face mask.

Side Effects

Common: lung disease, pharyngitis, chest pain, leg cramps, diarrhea, bronchitis. Less common: nausea, dyspepsia, urinary tract infection. Possible allergic reactions include skin rash and urticaria.

Interactions

Caution with anticholinergic agents, other sympathomimetics, beta-blockers, non-potassium sparing diuretics, MAOIs, and tricyclic antidepressants.
