Neomycin sulfate, polymyxin B sulfate and hydrocortisone is a sterile antibacterial and anti-inflammatory otic suspension for the treatment of superficial bacterial infections of the external auditory canal and infections of mastoidectomy and fenestration cavities.

Neomycin sulfate, polymyxin B sulfate and hydrocortisone is a sterile antibacterial and anti-inflammatory otic suspension for the treatment of superficial bacterial infections of the external auditory canal and infections of mastoidectomy and fenestration cavities.
Uses
Treatment of superficial bacterial infections of the external auditory canal and infections of mastoidectomy and fenestration cavities caused by susceptible organisms.
Dosage
Limited to 10 consecutive days. Adults: 4 drops into affected ear 3-4 times daily. Children: 3 drops, same frequency. Maintain ear-upward position for 5 minutes post-instillation.
Side Effects
Allergic sensitization most common. Ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity reported. Corticosteroid-related: burning, itching, irritation, dryness, folliculitis, skin atrophy.
Warnings
Risk of permanent sensorineural hearing loss with prolonged use. Do not use with perforated tympanic membrane. Neomycin may cause cutaneous sensitization. Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to any component and herpes simplex, vaccinia, and varicella infections.
Pregnancy
No adequate studies in pregnant women. Corticosteroids teratogenic in animals at high concentrations. Use only if potential benefit justifies fetal risk. Exercise caution in nursing mothers.
