Fixed combination tablet containing olmesartan medoxomil (angiotensin II receptor blocker), amlodipine besylate (calcium channel blocker), and hydrochlorothiazide (thiazide diuretic) for oral administration in the treatment of hypertension.

Fixed combination tablet containing olmesartan medoxomil (angiotensin II receptor blocker), amlodipine besylate (calcium channel blocker), and hydrochlorothiazide (thiazide diuretic) for oral administration in the treatment of hypertension.

Uses

Indicated for the treatment of hypertension, to lower blood pressure. Not indicated for initial therapy of hypertension.

Dosage

Dosing once daily. May increase after 2 weeks to a maximum of 40/10/25 mg. Dose is individualized based on previous therapy and patient response.

Side Effects

Common adverse reactions (incidence 2% or greater): dizziness, peripheral edema, headache, fatigue, nasopharyngitis, muscle spasms, nausea, upper respiratory tract infection, diarrhea, urinary tract infection, joint swelling.

Interactions

NSAIDs may reduce antihypertensive effect. Dual RAS blockade increases risk of hypotension and hyperkalemia. Interactions with colesevelam, lithium, simvastatin, CYP3A inhibitors, immunosuppressants, and antidiabetic drugs.

Warnings

Fetal toxicity: Drugs that act directly on the renin-angiotensin system can cause injury and death to the developing fetus. When pregnancy is detected, discontinue as soon as possible. Additional warnings include hypotension risk, renal impairment, hepatic impairment, electrolyte imbalances, and sprue-like enteropathy.

Pregnancy

Can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman. Discontinue immediately upon detection of pregnancy.
