Spinosad, the active ingredient, is derived from the fermentation of a soil actinomycete bacterium, Saccharopolyspora spinosa . Spinosad is a mixture of spinosyn A and spinosyn D in a ratio of approximately 5 to 1 (spinosyn A to spinosyn D).
