Uses

Treatment of hypertension or edema in patients who develop hypokalemia on hydrochlorothiazide alone, and for patients requiring a thiazide diuretic where potassium loss poses risk.

Dosage

Standard dose is one or two 37.5 mg/25 mg tablets daily as a single dose, or one 75 mg/50 mg tablet daily, with appropriate monitoring of serum potassium.

Side Effects

Gastrointestinal effects, neurological symptoms, cardiovascular changes, renal complications, blood disorders, and hypersensitivity reactions. Non-melanoma skin cancer risk associated with hydrochlorothiazide component.

Interactions

Caution with ACE inhibitors, NSAIDs, lithium, and other antihypertensive agents.

Warnings
