Uses

Indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.

Dosage

Recommended dose is 50 mg taken approximately 1 hour before sexual activity. Can range from 25-100 mg depending on effectiveness and toleration. Maximum recommended dosing frequency is once per day.

Side Effects

Most common adverse reactions (2% or greater) include headache, flushing, dyspepsia, abnormal vision, nasal congestion, back pain, myalgia, nausea, dizziness, and rash.

Interactions

Significant interactions with nitrates, alpha-blockers, CYP3A4 inhibitors, and antihypertensives. Concomitant use with nitrates is contraindicated.

Cardiovascular risks documented. Patients should stop use if sudden vision loss or hearing decrease occurs. Risk of priapism. Contraindicated with nitrates, in patients with hypersensitivity, and with guanylate cyclase stimulators like riociguat.
